We are pleased to announce that the 2024 Iowa Honor Band will be held on the campus of the University of Iowa on February 17-18. All activities will be held in the stunning Voxman Music Building located at 93 East Burlington Street, Iowa City. 

Dr. Linda Moorhouse, Director of the School of Music at the University of Illinois, will conduct the Voxman Honor Band, and Dr. Mark Heidel, Director of Bands at the University of Iowa, will conduct the Welch Honor Band. Michael Gause, Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the University of Iowa, will be our featured clinician. 

The fee for participating in the 2024 Iowa Honor Band is $25.00, which will include all honor band activities and festival t-shirt. Information regarding payment will be emailed to directors after the honor band members have been selected.

2024 IOWA HONOR BAND APPLICATION

PLEASE NOTE: 

Summary of the application/selection process:

     A. The application deadline is 10:00PM on Friday, December 1. After the application deadline, directors of the students that submitted applications will receive a confirmation of the students from their schools that applied for membership in the Iowa Honor Band.

    B.  The applications will then be evaluated and ranked based on the information provided by the students. 

     C. Iowa Honor Band members will be selected according to the rankings based on the desired instrumentation for the band. 

     D. Notifications of acceptance will follow as soon as possible after the selections have been finalized.

     E. The goal is to have the members selected and notified by sometime before the end of December.

     F. Once the members have been selected and assigned, directors will be contacted regarding payment for the registration fees.

     G. It is important that students check their calendars before submitting an application form. If any potential conflicts exist, the student should not submit an application for membership.
